From banker to adventurous design enthusiast

My journey involves helping businesses with strategies that navigate uncertainty and fuel substantial growth. This aligns perfectly with my core values rooted in “Interdisciplinary,” supported by three pillars: “discovery, creativity, and synergy.” My passion peaks when three pillars harmonize.

To pursue these values, I've made the decision to transition from a rewarding eight-year banking career, where I served as Vice President at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, one of Japan’s largest banks. During this tenure, I had the privilege of working with global-scale enterprises and executives from diverse industries, including finance, food, tourism, retail, and B2B. My role was to grasp their aspirations and support them through finance.

To facilitate this transition, I pursued a Master of Design at the Institute of Design, where I systematically gained expertise in design methodologies.

Today, my role remains on understanding organizations’ aspirations and transforming them into tangible action through strategy. My mission is to navigate ambiguity and leave a lasting, positive impact by leveraging my business knowledge and design methodologies.

A little more about me

I'd love to share a glimpse into my adventurous spirit and boundless curiosity, which are the very essence of my values in action.

Living abroad on my own since age 14:

I was born in Japan. My adventures began early. At the age of 14, I embarked on my first solo adventure to Canada, where I lived for a few months. At 16, I ventured to Australia, a country that introduced me to a world of diversity. You might even catch a hint of my Aussie accent when I speak.

A world traveler exploring 45+ countries:

At 18 years old, with a network of friends I'd made in Australia, I explore the world. By 25, I'd visited roughly 30 countries, and now my passport holds stamps from over 45 countries, each marking a unique adventure. I don't just tour; I dive into local communities.

Acquired French grandparents:

During a chance encounter with a French family while traveling in Turkey, I overcame a language barrier and asked them to be my host family. In the following year, I became a part of their family, effectively gaining French grandparents.

The origin of Amélie:

With my grandparents' support, I attended a culinary school founded by three-star Michelin chef Paul Bocuse. Surrounded by French culture and local interactions, I embraced the name Amélie. A Japanese individual with a French name perfectly embodies my essence as a curious and adventurous soul.
